Used to indicate that something happens or is done before another event. Often appears in the phrase ～に先立ち (prior to ~).

• 出しゅっ発ぱつに先さき立だち、準じゅん備びを整ととのえた。

  Prior to departure, we made preparations.

• 会かい議ぎに先さき立だち、資し料りょうを配はい布ふします。

  Before the meeting, we will distribute the materials.
