expression

farmers are like lords in the quiet 8th lunar month

A yojijukugo proverb referring to the traditional agricultural calendar: the eighth lunar month (around September) is a relatively idle period between planting and harvest, so farmers can relax like feudal lords. Used to describe a brief respite from hard work.

As the saying 'farmers are like lords in the eighth month' suggests, the eighth month of the lunar calendar is a time when farmers can take it a little easier.
