Used when conveying something without stating it directly, often to be tactful or avoid confrontation. Common with verbs like 言う, 聞く, 伝える, 示す.
He indirectly pointed out my mistake.
それとなく彼女の気持ちを聞いてみた。
I casually tried to ask about her feelings.
I hinted to him about my dissatisfaction without saying it outright.
I tried to indirectly ask about how she felt.
I let my boss know indirectly that I wanted a transfer.
