Describes liquids or soft substances becoming firm or jelly-like, often from cold. Used for broth, gravy, aspic, or similar foods. Not typically used for water freezing into ice (use 凍る).
煮こごりは、煮汁が冷えてこごったものです。
Nikogori is made when broth cools and congeals.
寒いところに置いたら、スープがこごってゼリーみたいになった。
When I left it in a cold place, the soup congealed and became like jelly.
