Used when quoting a passage and skipping the earlier portion; often seen in academic or formal citations.

• 引いん用よう文ぶんの冒ぼう頭とうに「（前ぜん略りゃく）」と入いれて、前まえの部ぶ分ぶんを省はぶいた。

  I put '(abridged)' at the beginning of the quotation to indicate that the earlier part was omitted.
