副露ふーろ

calling a discarded tile to complete a meld (not for winning)

Mahjong term. Refers to claiming a tile discarded by another player to form a meld (a set of three tiles), but not to complete the hand for a win. Distinct from ロン (ron), which is calling a tile to win.

  If you make many open melds, your hand becomes easier to read.

  He made repeated open melds with pon and chii.
