A sumo referee who sits ringside and may be called upon to confirm or overrule the referee's decision.
The ringside judges are watching the bout from beside the ring.
行司 is the referee on the dohyō who conducts the match, while 勝負審判 are the judges seated around the ring who assist in decisions.
