ku-adjective (archaic)
Archaic 'ku' adjective (classical Japanese). In modern Japanese, 多い (おおい) is used instead. Found in classical literature and old texts.
昔、この川には魚が多しと言われていた。
It was said that long ago there were many fish in this river.
古典の授業で「多し」という形容詞を習った。
We learned the adjective '多し' in classical Japanese class.
Modern equivalent. 多し is the archaic form used in classical Japanese; 多い is the standard modern adjective.
Classical Japanese adjective. The root is related to modern 多い (おおい), with the archaic adjectival ending し.
