奮ふん然ぜん

Literary adverb describing a spirited, determined manner of action. Often used with と (to) to modify a verb, as in 奮然と立ち上がる (rise resolutely).

• 彼かれは奮ふん然ぜんと立たち上あがり、反はん論ろんを始はじめた。

  He rose resolutely and began his rebuttal.

• 困こん難なんに直ちょく面めんしても、奮ふん然ぜんたる態たい度どを崩くずさなかった。

  Even when facing difficulties, he maintained a resolute attitude.
