Historical term referring to the raised floor area in the Heian-period imperial palace where courtiers assembled. Not used for modern buildings.
The Tenjō-no-ma was located on the south side of the Seiryōden.
From 殿上 (tenjō, 'raised floor' or 'palace') + の (possessive particle) + 間 (ma, 'room' or 'space'). The term is historically associated with the Heian court.
