Kagutsuchi; fire deity
Shinto fire god whose birth killed his mother Izanami; beheaded by his father Izanagi. Also known as 迦具土神.

Hinoyagihayao no Kami is a fire deity appearing in Japanese mythology.
In the Kojiki, it is said that Izanami died from burns caused by the birth of Hinoyagihayao no Kami.
More common name for the same deity; 火之夜芸速男神 is a longer, more formal variant found in classical sources.
An ancient name of the fire deity Kagutsuchi. 火之 means “of fire,” while several medial characters in this mythological name are used chiefly for their sounds and do not support a literal character-by-character interpretation.
