Describes writing without a fixed plan, letting thoughts flow naturally onto the page. Often used in the 〜て form (筆に任せて).

• 筆ふでに任まかせて、思おもいつくままに書かいた。

  I let my pen wander and wrote whatever came to mind.

• 彼かれは筆ふでに任まかせて、自じ由ゆう奔ほん放ぽうな文ぶん章しょうを綴つづった。

  He wrote freely, composing an unrestrained piece of writing.
