Archaic term for the traditional Japanese hour of the Dragon, roughly corresponding to 7–9 AM or 8–10 AM in the old temporal hour system. Used in historical contexts.
In the Edo period, the hour of the Dragon referred to around 7 to 9 in the morning.
From the traditional Chinese zodiac time system adopted in Japan, where each of the 12 double-hours was named after an animal sign. 辰 (Dragon) corresponds to the morning period around 8 AM.
