A time adverb meaning that something will happen fairly soon. It is common in announcements and plans; 近々に is also possible, but 近々 alone is very common.
A new shop will open in front of the station soon.

Only with reading ちかぢか
Spatial use, restricted to the reading ちかぢか. It is less central for modern learners than the time sense and often appears as 近々と, describing something as looking or feeling close.
From the observation deck, the mountain range looked close at hand.
I'm planning to move in the near future.
A new product launch event will be held soon.
I will come visit you soon.
Variant spelling without the iteration mark; the 近々 spelling is normally preferred.
