Usage patterns

• 〈場ば所しょ〉を這はうto crawl over/along a place

  赤あかちゃんが畳たたみの上うえを這はっている。

  The baby is crawling on the tatami mat.

• 〈虫むし〉が〈場ば所しょ〉を這はうa snake/worm slithers along a place

  蛇へびが地じ面めんを這はっていた。

  The snake was slithering along the ground.

• つたが〈場ば所しょ〉を這はうivy/vines trail or creep over a place

  つたが塀へいを這はうように伸のびている。

  The ivy is spreading along the wall as it grows.

• 這はうように〈動どう詞し〉to do something in a crawling-like, exhausted manner

  疲つかれ切きって、這はうように家いえに帰かえった。
