drink someone under the table; outdrink someone

Used when one person drinks another into a state of collapse or unconsciousness. The subject is the stronger drinker; the object is the person who gets drunk to the point of passing out.

• 彼かれは酒さけが強つよくて、よく友とも達だちを酔よいつぶす。

  He's a strong drinker and often drinks his friends under the table.

• 先せん輩ぱいを酔よいつぶそうとしたが、逆ぎゃくに自じ分ぶんがやられてしまった。

  I tried to outdrink my senior colleague, but ended up getting wasted myself.
