How to form it

Noun + の極きわみ（だ）

Nouns only. Also の極きわみにある, to be in that state, and の極きわみに達たっする, to reach it.

Goes with: A state or quality that can peak. Good: 贅ぜい沢たく, 幸しあわせ, 感かん激げき, 美び. Bad: 疲ひ労ろう, 混こん乱らん, 無ぶ礼れい, 痛つう恨こん (bitter regret).
Said about: Yourself, other people, or a thing you are judging.
Where you'll meet it: Essays, reviews, news, speeches. In conversation mostly 贅ぜい沢たくの極きわみ, said with a smile.
People say: 最さい高こうに贅ぜい沢たくだ, 疲つかれ切きっている.

In use

招しょう待たい客きゃくを人ひと前まえで侮ぶ辱じょくするとは、無ぶ礼れいの極きわみだ。

Insulting an invited guest in public is the height of rudeness.

の極きわみ or の至いたり?

平へい日じつの昼ひるから温おん泉せんとは、贅ぜい沢たくの極きわみだ。

A state at its peak: の極きわみ.

Not said: 平へい日じつの昼ひるから温おん泉せんとは、贅ぜい沢たくの至いたりだ。

の至いたり belongs in ceremonial thanks and apology.

感かん激げき and 光こう栄えい take either: 感かん激げきの至いたり, 感かん激げきの極きわみ.

極きわまりない or の極きわみ?

無ぶ礼れい is a な-adjective as well as a noun, so it takes either: 無ぶ礼れい極きわまりない, 無ぶ礼れいの極きわみだ. 疲ひ労ろう is only a noun, so it takes の極きわみ.

Other forms for a feeling or quality at its extreme

極まる・極まりないN1

A な-adjective, nearly always a harsh verdict: 失しつ礼れい極きわまる, 危き険けん極きわまりない. The two mean the same.

その発はつ言げんは無ぶ礼れい極きわまりない。

That remark is outrageously rude.

の至りN1

A handful of nouns in ceremonial thanks and apology: 光こう栄えいの至いたり, 恐きょう縮しゅくの至いたり.

今こん回かい、栄えい誉よある賞しょうを賜たまわり、光こう栄えいの至いたりです。

I could not be more honored to receive this distinguished award.

を禁じ得ないN1

A noun for a feeling that wells up: 同どう情じょう, 怒いかり, 涙なみだ. Written.

被ひ災さい地ちから届とどいた証しょう言げんに、深ふかい同どう情じょうを禁きんじ得えない。

I cannot help feeling deep sympathy at the accounts coming out of the disaster area.

てやまないN1

A verb for a lasting wish or regard: 願ねがってやまない, 尊そん敬けいしてやまない. Speeches and letters.

ても～きれないN1

The same verb of feeling, twice: 悔くやんでも悔くやみきれない, 感かん謝しゃしてもしきれない. Everyday too.

However much I regret the decision I made that day, it will never be enough.
