家いえという家いえevery single (house, shop, window)

A noun, という, and the same noun again: every single one, with none left out. It is a written way to paint a scene.

台たい風ふうで、村むらの家いえという家いえが被ひ害がいを受うけた。

In the typhoon, every single house in the village was damaged.

How to form it

Noun + という + the same noun

窓まどという窓まど, 店みせという店みせ. After it comes the usual particle: が, を, に.

The noun: Something you can count and picture: 家いえ, 店みせ, 窓まど, 壁かべ, 引ひき出だし. People too: 人ひとという人ひと.
Before it: Often the place that sets the limit: 町まち中じゅうの, 建たて物ものの. Every one there, not every one in the world.
After it: Something striking that is true of them all.
Where you'll meet it: Novels, essays, news features and exam reading. Hardly ever in conversation.

In use

町まち中じゅうの店みせという店みせが祭まつりの旗はたを掲かかげていた。

Every single shop in town was flying festival flags.

事じ務む室しつの机つくえという机つくえを調しらべたが、鍵かぎは見みつからなかった。

We searched every last desk in the office, but the key was nowhere to be found.

会かい場じょうにいた記き者しゃという記き者しゃが彼かれに質しつ問もんを浴あびせた。

Every reporter in the hall fired questions at him.

Two things to know

It is said for effect

A plain "all" or "every", spoken or written, is 全ぜん部ぶ or どの～も.

正しょう月がつで、商しょう店てん街がいの店みせという店みせが閉しまっていた。

It was New Year, and every single shop in the arcade was closed.

A scene, told for effect.

正しょう月がつで、商しょう店てん街がいの店みせは全ぜん部ぶ閉しまっていた。

It was New Year, and all the shops in the arcade were closed.

The everyday way to say it.

今日きょうという今日きょう is something else

With 今日きょう or 今こん度ど it isn't "every". 今日きょうという今日きょうは is "today, at long last" and 今こん度どという今こん度どは is "this time, and I mean it", from someone who has had enough.

今日きょうという今日きょうは、はっきり言いわせてもらう。

Today, at long last, I am going to say it straight.
