一いっ方ぽう（で）On the one hand; while

一いっ方ぽう（で） presents one side of a situation alongside another. The two sides may conflict, or they may simply be different roles, qualities, or actions that coexist.

Organizing two sides

The two sides must form a meaningful pair. They may describe the same subject from different angles, compare different people or groups, or show two actions happening alongside each other. The second side does not have to cancel or criticize the first.

Contrast and coexistence

The first example presents a disadvantage against an advantage. The second presents two compatible activities.

この仕し事ごとは収しゅう入にゅうが安あん定ていしている一いっ方ぽうで、勤きん務む時じ間かんが不ふ規き則そくだ。

This job offers a stable income, but its working hours are irregular.

Connecting separate sentences

Online classes can reduce commuting time. On the other hand, they tend to provide fewer opportunities for students to talk casually with one another.

Labeling both sides

一いっ方ぽうでは地ち方ほうで空あき家やが増ふえ、他た方ほうでは都と市し部ぶで住じゅう宅たく不ぶ足そくが続つづいている。

On the one hand, vacant homes are increasing in rural areas; on the other, housing shortages persist in cities.

Analyze

This balanced pattern is useful when both sides deserve equally explicit labeling.

Do not confuse these patterns

一いっ方ぽう（で） requires a genuine second side in this use. By contrast, verb + 一いっ方ぽうだ can describe a change that keeps moving in one direction, with no second side. 反はん面めん is narrower because its two aspects must meaningfully oppose each other, while 一いっ方ぽう（で） also allows compatible roles or actions. に対たいして more explicitly sets up two distinct members for comparison.
