ためためにCause or reason

ため or ために presents an event or condition as the cause of a later result. It is especially common in reports, notices, news, and other careful explanations.

Cause first, result second

The part before the target gives the cause, and the following clause gives the result. The result is not an action performed in order to achieve that cause.

おおあめつづいたためかわすいがりました。

Because the heavy rain continued, the river level rose.

Analyze

The past event before ため caused the later change.

イベントはたいふうのためにちゅうとなりました。

The event was canceled because of the typhoon.

Analyze

A noun takes before the target form.

The particle is not required

Both ため and causal ために can connect the cause to the result. Do not automatically add ; the shorter form is extremely common before a result clause.

Cause or purpose?

With the cause use, the earlier event produces the later result. With the purpose use, someone performs the later action to achieve the goal stated before ために. An intentional dictionary-form verb is therefore a warning that the expression may mean purpose rather than cause.

かくるためにまいにちべんきょうしています。

I study every day in order to obtain the qualification.

Analyze

This is purpose, not cause: studying is done to achieve the goal.
