What the adjective describes
The adjective can describe the manner of an action, such as speaking quickly or writing neatly. It can also describe the result produced by the action, such as cutting hair short or writing a character large.
Before an ordinary verb and before the verb meaning do
On this page, the adjective form can describe many different actions. When the same form is followed by する, the construction specifically presents someone as intentionally changing something into that state.
