そしてAnd; and then
そして connects a following statement or event to the one before it. It can neutrally mean “and,” or “and then” when the context shows a sequence of events.
Two kinds of connection
そして does not always express time order. With descriptions or facts, it simply adds related information. With successive actions, the same word can present the second event as the natural continuation of the first.

この町は静かです。そして、海が近いです。
This town is quiet, and it is close to the sea.

A connected flow
In a narrative, そして often makes the next event feel like part of the same developing scene, rather than a sharply separated new step.
雨がやみました。そして、雲の間から月が見えました。
The rain stopped, and then the moon appeared between the clouds.

そして can present events as one connected development. それから more clearly marks “after that” or the next distinct step.
