A species of palm tree native to the Yaeyama Islands; scientific name Satakentia liukiuensis.
ヤエヤマヤシは石垣島と西表島だけに自生する。
The Yaeyama palm grows naturally only on Ishigaki Island and Iriomote Island.
Named after the Yaeyama Islands (八重山) where it is endemic, combined with 椰子 (やし, 'palm').
