Polite set phrase used to introduce information the listener is expected to already know. Often used in formal speech or writing.
ご承知の通り、来月から新しい制度が始まります。
As you know, the new system will start next month.
ご承知の通り、当社は創業50周年を迎えました。
As you are aware, our company has reached its 50th anniversary.
Almost synonymous, but ご存知 is slightly more common in spoken polite Japanese. ご承知 is often used in very formal or written contexts.
Phrase composed of the honorific prefix ご, the noun 承知 (acknowledgment, knowledge), the possessive particle の, and the noun 通り (as, in accordance with).
