A deeply held wish or prayer, often of a spiritual or earnest nature. More formal and less everyday than 願い.
彼の心願は世界平和です。
His heartfelt wish is world peace.
長年の心願が叶って、神社に感謝した。
My long-held prayer was answered, and I gave thanks at the shrine.
