Used when you have something with you or in stock at the moment, often by chance or without special preparation. Commonly used in the negative form 持ち合わせていない to say you don't have something right now.
あいにく、今は現金を持ち合わせていません。
Unfortunately, I don't happen to have any cash on me right now.
彼はいつも名刺を持ち合
He always has business cards on hand.
