Historical term referring to Emishi people who submitted to or allied with the Yamato court during the ritsuryō period. Not used in modern Japanese outside historical contexts.

• 律りつ令りょう時じ代だいには、朝ちょう廷ていに服ふく属ぞくした蝦夷えみしを夷い俘ふと呼よんだ。

  During the ritsuryō period, Emishi who submitted to the imperial court were called ifu.
