Medical term for a condition in which the cervix is weak and may open prematurely during pregnancy.
When diagnosed with cervical incompetence, a cervical cerclage may be performed.
Compound of 子宮 (shikyū, 'uterus') + 頸管 (keikan, 'cervical canal') + 無力症 (muryokushō, 'incompetence' or 'insufficiency'). The term is a direct medical calque.
