Xiuyaojing; Sutra of Lunar Mansions and Planets
An 8th-century Buddhist astrological text translated by Amoghavajra, combining Indian and Chinese astrological systems. Used in Japanese esoteric Buddhism (Mikkyō) for calendar-making and divination.
The Xiuyaojing became the foundation of the esoteric Buddhist astrology that Kūkai brought to Japan.
The Xiuyaojing records the auspiciousness of the twenty-seven lunar mansions and the seven luminaries.
