Humble equivalent of いる, used for animate beings. Often used in formal or polite contexts to refer to oneself or one's in-group.

• 私わたしはここにおります。

  I am here. (humble)

• 父ちちは今いま、家いえにおります。

  My father is at home now. (humble)

  It is raining. (dialectal/old-fashioned)
