A deeply held wish or prayer, often of a spiritual or earnest nature. More formal and less everyday than 願い.

• 彼かれの心しん願がんは世せ界かい平へい和わです。

  His heartfelt wish is world peace.

• 長なが年ねんの心しん願がんが叶かなって、神じん社じゃに感かん謝しゃした。

  My long-held prayer was answered, and I gave thanks at the shrine.
