confining pressure
Technical term in geotechnical engineering and soil mechanics; the pressure applied to a soil or rock sample to simulate in-situ stress conditions.
In a triaxial compression test, confining pressure is applied to the specimen.
Compound of 拘束 (restraint, confinement) and 圧 (pressure).
