Refers to crossing or passing from one place to another, and often appears in compounds or set descriptions of connecting passages.
The two school buildings are connected by a passageway.

Limited and old-fashioned compared with modern 輸入; often encountered in compound-like expressions such as 唐渡り, meaning something brought from abroad.
This is said to be an old tea bowl imported from China.
Especially used of birds and other animals that migrate seasonally; related to 渡り鳥.
