Academic term in sociology and philosophy; refers to the theory that knowledge and social phenomena are constructed through human interaction and shared meanings.
From the standpoint of social constructionism, reality is not objectively given but is created through people's interactions.
社会構成主義 is sometimes used interchangeably, but 社会構築主義 more strongly emphasizes the active process of construction.
