見み間ま違ちがう

misperceive visually; misread; mistake for something else

Used when you see something incorrectly, misread a character or sign, or confuse one person/thing with another. Often interchangeable with 見間違える, but 見間違う can sound slightly more casual or dialectal.

  I mistook the person in the distance for my younger brother.

• 数すう字じの「1」と「7」を見み間ま違ちがわないように気きをつけてください。
