A tree native to East Asia, Daphniphyllum macropodum. Its name comes from the way old leaves fall after new ones appear, as if 'yielding' (譲る). Often planted as a symbol of generational succession.

• ユズリハの葉はは、新あたらしい葉はが出でると古ふるい葉はが落おちる。

  When new leaves appear on the yuzuriha, the old leaves fall.
