Refers to a method, approach, or way of doing something that is considered incorrect, improper, or outside accepted norms. Often used in contrast to 正道 (the proper way).
His way of doing things is improper.

A stronger, more moralistic sense implying a path of evil or heresy, often in religious, philosophical, or ethical contexts. Less common in everyday speech than sense 1.
That teaching was regarded as heresy.
