ようによってはdepending on how you (see it)

Depending on how you look at it, use it or go about it, a thing comes out differently: a failure is good experience, an old cloth an ornament. よう is "way", and a handful of verbs do nearly all the work.

同おなじ失しっ敗ぱいでも、考かんがえようによっては貴き重ちょうな経けい験けんになる。

The same failure can be a valuable experience, depending on how you think about it.

古ふるい布ぬのでも、使つかいようによっては立りっ派ぱな飾かざりになる。

Even old cloth can make a fine decoration, depending on how you use it.

How to form it

Verb ます-stem + ようによっては

Nearly always one of these: 考かんがえよう, 見みよう, 使つかいよう, やりよう, 言いいよう, 聞ききよう, 取とりよう. 考かんがえよう and 見みよう are spelled like "let's think" and "let's look", but this よう is a noun, "way". 使つかいよう shows it: "let's use" is 使つかおう.

After it: How the thing then comes out, for better or for worse: 〜になる, 〜とも言いえる, 〜に聞きこえる, 〜できる.
Where you'll meet it: Conversation, advice, essays, reviews. Neither stiff nor casual.
With any verb: 方かた says the same, so it is the safe one to say yourself: 考かんがえ方かたによっては, 使つかい方かたによっては.

In use

この結けっ果かは、見みようによっては改かい善ぜんの兆きざしとも言いえる。

Looked at a certain way, this result could even be called a sign of improvement.

同おなじ内ない容ようでも、言いいようによっては相あい手てを傷きずつける。

The same message can hurt someone, depending on how you put it.

限かぎられた予よ算さんでも、やりようによっては十じゅう分ぶんな成せい果かを出だせる。
