ば～ほどThe more..., the more...
ば～ほど links two changing scales: as the first quality or action increases, the second result increases or decreases accordingly.
How the two scales work
The repeated part creates the first scale. The rest of the sentence gives the result that changes along with it. English often uses “the more X, the more Y,” but the result can also decrease: “the more X, the less Y.”
Verb and adjective patterns
Notice that the same verb or adjective appears on both sides of the conditional ending.
考えれば考えるほど、見落としていた条件に気づく。
The more I think about it, the more I notice conditions I had overlooked.
Analyze気温が低ければ低いほど、電池の減りが早くなる。
The lower the temperature, the faster the battery drains.
Analyze計画は具体的なら具体的なほど、協力を得やすい。

The first scale becomes stronger, but the result may rise or fall. What matters is a coherent relationship: more practice can mean greater skill, while more practice can also mean fewer mistakes.

Close but different patterns
A simple ば condition means that B follows if A holds; it does not by itself compare increasing degrees. につれて presents one change as accompanying another progression, while ば～ほど explicitly grades the first action or quality by repeating it. A single clause followed by ほど can indicate an illustrative degree, but it does not have the full repeated proportional pattern.
