型Type, model, or form
型 classifies something by its type, model, size, design, or recognizable form. The same kanji is read けい in established compounds, but the reading must be learned with each word.
What the label tells you
The resulting word is noun-like: it names a category or form rather than merely describing a quality. It can take particles, connect to another noun as part of a compound, or use の before a noun. The exact connection is part of the established expression.

These examples show product models, size classes, and personal classifications.
Established compounds with the other reading
Here the complete compound should be memorized as one vocabulary item.
Type, quality, or change?
都市型 labels an urban-oriented type or model. 都市的 describes something as urban in character, while 都市化 names the process of becoming urban. Choose according to whether you mean a category, a quality, or a change.
