そこで・ そのため・ その結果Response, consequence, and outcome connectors
そこで introduces an action taken in response to a situation, そのため introduces a consequence caused by it, and その結果 explicitly reports the outcome of an action or process.
Choose by looking at the second part
Ask what follows the connector. If it is a deliberate measure, investigation, request, or decision prompted by the first situation, use そこで. If it is a consequence caused by the first situation, use そのため. If you are looking back after an action or process and identifying what it produced, use その結果.
