Cleaning or washing away unwanted substances.
To remove stains, dirt, or marks by cleaning. Often used with specific nouns like 汚れ (dirt) or シミ (stain).
この洗剤は油汚れをよく落とします。
This detergent removes grease well.
Also used for removing impurities or contaminants, often in technical or medical contexts.

It's a process to remove impurities.
取り除く is for removing unwanted things from a surface or area. 外す is for detaching something that is attached or fitted. 抜く is for pulling out something that is stuck or inserted.
壁のポスターを取り除いた。
I removed the poster from the wall.
壁のフックを外した。
I removed the hook from the wall.
壁の釘を抜いた。
I removed the nail from the wall.
Avoid directly translating 'remove' as リムーブする (rimūbu suru) in most contexts. It is not natural Japanese. Use the appropriate verb based on what is being removed.
