  After resting a little, his mood improved.

  After restarting it, the computer returned to normal.

Used for mistakes, wording, defects, or wrong points becoming corrected. The thing corrected is the subject, not the object.

• 指し摘てきした誤ご字じはもう直なおっている。

  The typo I pointed out has already been corrected.

Applies to a problem, flaw, or habit disappearing or being cured. For illness or injury, the homophonous spelling 治る is often the standard modern choice.

  In an old-fashioned disciplinary expression, ちゃんと直りなさい means to sit up properly.
