ticket; passenger ticket
General term for a ticket used on buses, trains, and other public transport. Covers both basic fare tickets and combined tickets in everyday language.
駅の券売機で乗車券を買った。
I bought a ticket at the station ticket machine.

I put the ticket in my pocket so I wouldn't lose it.
basic fare ticket
Specifically a ticket covering only the basic fare, not valid for limited express trains without a separate express supplement (特急券). Often contrasted with 特急券 in railway contexts.
