Physical sense: to look upward at something above, often the sky, a ceiling, a mountain, or the heavens. More literary or written-feeling than 見上げる in many everyday contexts.

• 資し金きんが足たりず、親おや会がい社しゃの援えん助じょを仰あおぐことになった。
