Used when someone or something creates a strong or lasting impression on others, often intentionally. Can be used with a person as the object or with a phrase like 印象付けるように.
彼は面接で自分の熱意を印象付けようとした。
He tried to impress his enthusiasm on the interviewer.

The speech impressed her sincerity on the audience.
