Used for policies, plans, estimates, schedules, prices, methods, and similar matters that may need rechecking or changing.

• 予よ算さんが足たりないので、計けい画かくを見み直なおす必ひつ要ようがある。

  Since the budget is insufficient, we need to review the plan.

• 会かい社しゃは料りょう金きん体たい系けいを見み直なおした。

  The company revised its fee structure.

Expresses a positive change in one’s evaluation of someone or something, often after seeing unexpected ability, effort, or value.

• 彼かれの発はっ表ぴょうを聞きいて、彼かれを見み直なおした。

  After hearing his presentation, I saw him in a new and better light.

improve; recover

Intransitive use for recovery or improvement, especially of a market or illness, is much less common in everyday modern Japanese than 持ち直す or 回復する.

• 古ふるい用よう法ほうでは、「病びょう人にんが少すこし見み直なおした」のように、病びょう状じょうが持もち直なおす意い味みで使つかわれる。

  In older usage, a phrase such as “the patient has somewhat recovered” uses 見直す to mean that the condition has improved.
