Refers to something located, happening, or being done on a road or street. Common in compounds and phrases such as 路上駐車, 路上ライブ, and 路上で.
Please do not park your car on the street.
He was playing guitar on the street in front of the station.
on the way; along the way; during a journey
A less common, more written use referring to the course of travel or a journey. In ordinary conversation, 途中 is usually more direct for 'on the way.'
I wrote in my diary about what I saw and heard along the way on my journey.
He was performing out on the street.
A wallet was lying on the street.
An elderly man collapsed in the street.
