べくしてAs was bound to happen
Looks back on an actual outcome and presents it as the natural or inevitable result of conditions already in place. The same verb is repeated on both sides of the expression.
A result that was no accident
This pattern does more than say that something happened. It says that earlier preparation, neglect, conflict, advantage, or other established conditions made that outcome understandable and almost unavoidable. Those grounds should normally be stated or already clear from context.
Favorable, adverse, and fate-like results
The outcome does not have to be negative. What matters is the sense that the result followed naturally from what came before.

Outcome versus expectation
The expectation pattern with はずだ says what the speaker expects or infers; the event may still be in the future. The repeated べくして pattern normally evaluates a realized or established outcome in hindsight.
