revolve, turn around, change
転 centers on circular motion or a shift in state: revolving, turning around, or changing from one thing to another.
転 is the modern simplified form of 轉. The older form combines 車 (vehicle) with 專, which likely contributed the sound and the idea of turning or revolving. The modern right side 云 is a simplification.
A vehicle 車 with a swirling cloud-like shape 云 on the right: picture a car spinning its wheels and kicking up a cloud of dust as it turns around.
For テン, imagine a car turning ten times in a row: ten -> テン, and each turn revolves the vehicle.
